If this sounds like you

"I've seen a therapist before and spent most of the session thinking — this person doesn't get it."

"High-functioning on the outside. Something important is missing on the inside."

"I don't want worksheets. I want to talk to a real person about what's actually happening."

"I know I'm smart enough to figure this out. That hasn't made it any easier."

Utah wilderness — where it started
James's story
"I was the 17-year-old who got sent away. Now I work with the people who remind me of myself."

At 17, I was struggling badly enough that my parents sent me to a wilderness program in Utah. Three months in the high desert, then a therapeutic boarding school for my senior year. It changed everything — and I decided to spend my career paying that forward.

I'm not a therapist who learned about this from a textbook. I've been in the room on both sides. That's not a talking point. It's the whole reason I work the way I do.

What makes this different

This isn't the therapy
you've tried before.

01
Not clinical.
Conversational.
You'll talk to the real me — no clinical distance, no mask, no performance of neutrality. I show up as a person. That's not unprofessional. That's the point.
02
The relationship
is the work.
The modality is secondary. What actually changes people is the quality of the relationship — being genuinely seen, called out when it matters, and cared about regardless.
03
Grounded in
lived experience.
15 years. Wilderness therapy, residential treatment, private practice. And before that — I was the teenager who needed this work. The academic foundation is there. So is the personal one.
What clients say

The kind of therapy people
didn't know was possible.

"It's different talking to him. It doesn't feel like a checklist. It just feels like talking — but something actually changes."
Former client — age 24
"He called me out in session two on something three other therapists never touched in two years. I was annoyed. Then I realised he was right."
Former client — age 19, college student
