Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Utah and Delaware
13 years experience in the mental health field (residential treatment, wilderness therapy, private practice)
I grew up in South Jersey outside of Philadelphia. I attended Tower Hill School in Wilmington, DE during those years. I played competitive sports at a high level, swimming, soccer, football and ultimately lacrosse. I was an exceptional student at school, and was involved in extracurriculars including chorus, band, and drama. My Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 13, and I began to experiment with drugs and alcohol to cope with this reality. By 17, I was in such bad shape that my parents sent me to a wilderness program in Utah. After three months in the wilderness, I attended a therapeutic boarding school in Park City, UT for my senior year of high school. The experience in Utah saved my life. I decided I wanted to study psychology and become a therapist to pay the experience forward to other kids and families in need. After graduating from college, I moved to Utah to pursue work in wilderness therapy and my passion in snowboarding. I worked as a staff in wilderness therapy for three years before applying to a master’s program. During my master’s, I was an assistant therapist at a wilderness program and worked in private practice under a psychiatrist. Following graduation, I worked as wilderness therapist for another year and a half before transitioning to a residential treatment program for teenage boys in Utah. I worked as a residential therapist for five years at the program. I am most interested in philosophy, art, music, and deep, connected relationships.
